Literacy Task 2 Poem

For the past couple of weeks my literacy group have been working on multiple different literacy writing and creating tasks and in the literacy task I chose 2 writing tasks, 1 poem task, and 1 infographic. And after each task we have to blog about the task and I chose to blog my poem second after my inforgraphic which was my first blog post. For my poem I made I chose to make it a octopoem and if you don’t know what a octopoem is (I didn’t know either before my teacher told me) it’s basically just 8 lines of a poem with certain features. The first line is a colour related to the topic, the second line is the season the topic is related to, the third line is a place that the topic is related to, the fourth line is the weather related to the topic, the fifth line is a piece of clothing related to the topic, the sixth line is a piece of furniture related to the topic, the second to last line is any tv show that is related to the topic, and the last line is a type of food related to the poem. This is my poem I made:

                Matariki Poem:

Matariki usually seen as red

Matariki always happening in June or July

Matariki shining bright in the night sky

As tradition Maori people wear traditional flax clothing

Matariki can be seen clearly in a telescope on a stand

Matariki is shown on various tv shows like TVNZ

Steamed mussels are connected directly to the star Waita because it’s food from the oceans.

Have you ever made a octopoem that is related to matariki? If you have what was your poem about?

Matariki Literacy Task 1 Infographic

For the past couple of weeks my literacy group have been working on multiple different literacy writing and creating tasks and in the literacy task I chose 2 writing tasks, 1 poem task, and 1 infographic. And after each task we have to blog about the task and I chose to first blog about my infographic I made. I made this infographic using Google drawings and I found my information about the stars by using a government made site and it was really helpful for information. In the cluster the star I like the most based off the description would be Hiwa I te rangi because I have always heard of wishing stars but never actually been given a stars name that could be wishing star but know I know that Hiwa I te rangi is a wishing star. Have you ever done a infographic like this? If you have what is your favourite star?

My Third Passion Project

17/06/24

Topic: Capture the flag

My goal: Since I didn’t achieve my last goal to score at least 1 goal without being ripped off in the middle of the process I will try to finish the goal.

Reflection: (30 minutes) I had finished my goal with 2 goals and also to fully complete the goal I didn’t get ripped in the process and after I got ripped I did feel sad but I felt really happy that I at least got the goals. After the game the overall score was about 5-3 (my team was 3) even though we lost I am still happy that I finished my goal

Literacy Writing Prompt

The explosion was enormous. We all heard the deafening sound. In seconds Hiroshima was demolished 63% of it was destroyed by the nuke that the USA had dropped. We had never seen that kind of destruction I was lucky to even escape but the bomb made basically everyone including me sick from the emitted radioactive from the bomb.

After that attack I moved to Nagasaki but unluckily Nagasaki got bombed by USA I survived that to but now Japan wasn’t safe unless Hirohito surrendered, and after seeing that Hirohito had surrendered. After that incident Japan also remembered that the USA had almost destroyed Japan.

Then the Americans made the hydrogen bomb which was 1000x more powerful than atomic bombs because atomic bombs use nuclear fission but hydrogen bombs use nuclear fusion which makes them several times more powerful. The bomb had 10 megatons of TNT and the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima only had 10 kilotons (0.01 megatons) that’s how powerful the hydrogen bomb was.

After some years from the first bomb by USA the Soviet Union had made a bomb so destructive that even though the pilot dropped a bomb from 9000 meters and the bomb had a parachute to make the bomb slow down so the pilots had enough time to get out of the test zone it still hit the plane 35 kilometers away. The bomb (Tsar Bomba) had 57 megatons of TNT in it and the explosion made a really big fireball that was 8km wide and about 10.5 km high about the altitude of where the bombers deployed the bomb. The 1 bomb had affected people from 700 kms (400 miles).

Matariki Pixel Art

Today we should have gone to winter sport but since it was cancelled we made Matariki pixel art. For the pixel art we first started off with watching a video about how pixel art works in the feature they gave. We used google sheets to do pixel art instead of any other fancy site. Since this pixel art was Matariki themed I chose to make a star here’s my star using pixel art:

I first thought of making the outline black but then I also thought what colour I would use for the night sky  background so I had to use black for the background then I chose the closest colour representing black which is grey. Have you ever done a Matariki themed art? If you have what does it look like?

Spelling Prefixes (Literacy)

Today for our spelling we learned about the prefixes ‘inter’- and ‘over’-. For the handwriting task we wrote about the use of the two prefixes with examples. For the task we wrote a story with at least 3 words consisting of the prefix ‘inter’- and ‘over’-. Here’s my story:

Today on Saturday I overslept but luckily it was a weekend and it was raining which made it feel cold but I like whenever it rains because the atmosphere feels pleasant whenever it rains. The weather was overcasting even after several hours of rain it seemed like it was never going to end. My friend asked me if I want to come over but since this rain doesn’t look like it’s gonna stop I couldn’t come which was a sad part of the day but the day still looked like it would get better. I was staying at my home without interacting with anyone expect my family I really wanted to go to my friend’s house but it looks like it will be next week.

Nano Girl Assembly

Yesterday we had the whole school assembly and the reason we had the whole school assembly was because of  Nano girl (a science YouTuber). Nano girl came to our school and showed us some cool experiments and the first one was putting her hand on fire by dipping her hand in a liquid that had resistance to fire. For the second experiment she showed us that when blowing into a big tube if she blows really quick then it fills the tube really quick.

She did more experiments which included: blowing beach balls with leaf blowers, using a vortex cannon, using the leaf blower with toilet paper. For the 3rd experiment blowing beach balls with leaf blowers she used high wind then controlled the beach ball movement with the positioning of the leaf blower.

When she used the vortex cannon she named the experiment “using telekinesis”. She first tried using the vortex cannon without anything inside but the air wasn’t really that visible because it didn’t have much pressure so then she put smoke inside the vortex cannon so you could actually see the air. The air came in the shape of a ring. For people who don’t know what vortex cannons are they are circular tubes that release visible air.

For the last experiment she used a leaf blower to blow toilet paper off which looked really cool when done correctly  (they did it wrong the first time). Have you ever seen anything like this? If you have who did it?

Passion Project (Chess)

27/05/24

Project 1:Chess

My goal is to checkmate against a good player in less than 30 moves, I would also like to checkmate someone in 3 moves.

Reflection: (40 minutes) Since chess wasn’t on I had played online in chesskids. but I achieved my goal in checkmating in 3 moves. I would rate online playing 7/10 but playing in real life is 10/10. I couldn’t tell who’s a good player because I don’t know anyone on chesskid so I couldn’t achieve my first goal. I played 3 games and won 2 and lost 1. I also played 1 puzzle game after.

My Science Display Element

For our science display each person in my class has to make a tile and I got assigned curium. I chose a radioisotope thermometric generator because curium can only be mined from them I also chose the toxic sign because curium is radioactive and then on the top left and right I put the atomic weight and the atomic number. Have you ever done something like this with your class? If you have what was the topic about and what did you get assigned?

Action Stations

This term for action stations, I have been learning chess. I have practised online and played against other students.

I have enjoyed playing chess because when playing chess I like learning new strategies.

I have won against a student in my chess class. My score is 1 win 0 defeats.

We have a chess ladder in my chess class and we randomly got our placements in the chess ladder and i’m 21st out of 27 but I think I will go up because I am a decent player.
